Dynasty Lands Former Morgan Stanley Consulting Group Exec
Dynasty Financial Partners has hired a former regional manager from Morgan Stanley’s consulting group to help market Dynasty’s investment management programs to its advisor clients, according to an announcement on Wednesday.
Matthew F. Marsh, who previously oversaw sales of managed account products by thousands of Morgan Stanley advisors in the southwest, joins as director of investment solutions at Dynasty. Marsh, 43, will help advisors in the west and central part of the U.S. with sales of managed accounts, hedge funds and other products offered through Dynasty’s platform, according to the a firm spokeswoman.
Dynasty, which was founded in 2010, provides investment products and other services to 37 independent investment advisory firms, Dynasty said in the announcement. Around $5 billion of its partner firms’ $20 billion in assets are held in various managed account offerings and other products on Dynasty’s platform, according to the spokeswoman.
Dynasty’s chief executive, Shirl Penney, alluded to the recruit last week in discussing its plans for growth against the backdrop of a broader slowdown in recruiting across the industry and the departure of its east-coast recruiter, Stan Gregor.
At Morgan Stanley, Marsh, who began his career in 1995, oversaw sales of managed account products for around 1,900 advisors in Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, Arizona and southern California, according to his LinkedIn profile. He left the firm in June, according to the profile.
A Morgan Stanley spokeswoman confirmed that Marsh is no longer with the firm, which has around $820 billion in client assets in fee-based or managed accounts. Conor Shalloe was recently named to the role of regional manager for the southwest, she said.
Shalloe joined Morgan Stanley in July, according to his LinkedIn profile, which lists his most recent employment as senior vice president at Neuberger Berman from 2014 to 2015.
